Benefits Of Using A VoIP Telephone System With On-net Call Transfers
Hiring a receptionist often requires a fair bit of money which can be costly, especially when you are starting out and there aren’t enough calls coming in to justify that cost.
Whether you have a small business that receives minimal calls, or a large business that requires multiple calls answered simultaneously, outsourcing your telephonic activities is the answer! Thetha Connect saves you time and money using, among other things, something called on-net calls. In order to understand the benefits of on net calls, let’s first take a look at what an on-net call is and explore the benefits of using this type of call.
What is an ‘on net’ call?
The term ‘on-net’ is used to describe a certain type of call. An ‘on net’ call is one where both the person calling and the person being called are on the same provider’s telephone network. ‘On-net’ can be used when your call originates from your VoIP telephone network and terminates to another extension that uses the same telephone network as you. ‘On net’ calls are also often free because the provider pays very little extra to transfer calls.
To further understand this, we also need to mention off-net calls. ‘Off-net’ calls apply when the call is made from a different telephone network or if you are using your home network to make a call to a number that is with a different telephone network provider. Off-net calls often incur termination charges (the fee that must be paid to call someone on a different telephone network) that are billed by the provider of the person who is being called to the provider of the person who is calling.
Simply put, on net calls are calls that are made between users of the same telephone network and thus incur little to no extra charges.
How does this affect you?
Thetha Connect dials into your internal network using the VoIP server IP address and credentials that you provide. As such all call transfers to and from your virtual receptionist are considered on-net calls which incur little to no additional costs.
Benefits of on-net call transfers
- The setup process is relatively easy. Just add Thetha Connect as a new extension on your existing VoIP telephone system.
- You provide Thetha Connect with the server IP and login credentials, so you have full control.
- Our technicians allow your business’ VoIP traffic through our advanced firewall in order to provide secure and excellent voice quality calls.
- We don’t charge you for any VoIP internal call transfers and you will not be billed for any call durations as these are considered on-net calls.
- On net call transfers make things less complicated, thanks to our advanced call routing which allows us to handle a higher volume of calls.
- All calls are received by an assigned, dedicated and trained virtual receptionist who filters and handles each caller individually and efficiently.
- It’s easy to reach your assigned and trained virtual receptionist. All employees using existing VoIP extensions can get in contact with Thetha Connect receptionists by dialing the ‘reception number’ eg. ext.101.
- We make follow-ups a breeze. You’ll receive a detailed email for each call answered that includes the callers’ name, contact number and verified email address.
- We make sure that your wires don’t get crossed. Your dedicated virtual receptionist will announce all calls beforehand and will only transfer them if you are available to take the call. If not, they will take the call back and provide you with a detailed message, making it easy to follow up afterwards.
- Your calls will still be answered during times of load shedding or power outages thanks to our clean backup power.
You will not be charged additionally for outbound 3rd party calls. The charge will be at the same rate as negotiated with your telecoms provider.
